Founded in 2009, Hareepa! Chicago is the Windy City's multicultural all-female, all-bhangra independent dance troupe that takes a spirited and mindful approach to the art of Bhangra. We have performed throughout the Chicagoland area, including banquet halls, Devon, Daley Plaza, Navy Pier and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Hareepa! Chicago performed for the last time at Navy Pier in downtown Chicago in March of 2013. Bhangra is a highly energetic folk dance from the Punjab region of India and Pakistan. It began as a dance for the harvest, but has become so popular that it is performed year-round and world-wide. Hareepa! Chicago is no longer available for performances. |
